A team of researchers of the Home Science PG Department and School of Chemistry of Sambalpur University were granted patent for ragi-based cake premix that has nutritional and therapeutic value. The head of the Home Science Department said that the cake will cost only 2 rupees if the millet and wheat of the Pubic Distribution System (PDS) are used for making it. As Ragi is highly nutritious and rich in phytochemicals and micronutrients, it will help eradicate malnutrition, osteoporosis, rickets and anemia from the society. This low-cost cake can be served to the Angadwadi Centres for children enrolled there.
