Within a day of this announcement, producer of the movie ‘Anniyan’, V Ravichandran of Aascar Film Pvt Ltd., sent a legal notice to filmmaker Shankar accusing him of copyright violation. He stated that he is the admitted author of the literary work and nobody has the right to interfere with the same under any circumstances.

As he is the whole and sole owner of the rights of the storyline of the movie, any remaking or copying of the main plot of the said movie without his due permission is completely illegal and unlawful. However, filmmaker S Shankar refuted the claims and stated that the script of the movie ‘Anniyan’ is with him and he is entitled to exploit it and that this accusation of copyright violation is a deliberate attempt to jeopardize his future projects.
