In the legal notice, he mentioned that the entire story rights of the movie were purchased by him from writer Sujatha for which full payment had been done and that he has in his possession all the necessary documents to prove the same. As he is the whole and sole owner of the rights of the storyline of the movie, any remaking or copying of the main plot of the said movie without his due permission is completely illegal and unlawful. However, filmmaker S Shankar refuted the claims and stated that the script of the movie ‘Anniyan’ is with him and he is entitled to exploit it and that this accusation of copyright violation is a deliberate attempt to jeopardize his future projects.
